OSU Plans Heart-Warming Welcome for Transplant PatientsCOLUMBUS, Ohio — More than 40 heart transplant patients and their families will return to the Ohio State University Medical Center on Friday (2/23) for a heart transplant reunion.
The heart transplant patient reunion will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Ross Heart Hospital auditorium. Reporters are invited to the reunion and can speak with returning heart transplant patients and members of the transplant team. Some of the earliest patients to receive heart transplants at Ohio State will be in attendance at the reunion, including a woman who was 12 years old when she had a transplant in 1990. Parking is available in the main driveway of University Hospital, 450 W. 10th Ave. In addition, food will be available and guests and medical staff will participate in karaoke. Ohio State has central Ohio’s only adult heart transplant program. The first heart transplant was performed at OSU in 1986.
